Making packaging more sustainable for a Fortune 100 company

Consumer Electronics (confidential)

the brief

Engaged by the packaging department, the project objective was to source an alternative synthetic textile that would serve as a more sustainable option, in the packaging of consumer electronic devices. A specific sourcing location was given, and the recommended materials had to be comparable in performance as well as ‘look and feel’ of the existing material.

Hyloh built a custom research strategy, mapping and characterizing all natural and synthetic fibers, and their likelihood to suit the performance and aesthetic requirements. This process informed the research streams, and by engaging one of our international collaborators, we were able to look broadly at packaging materials, and cross-industry materials, as well as tap into the local market of manufacturers and suppliers. All material recommendations were made from more sustainable raw materials or with more sustainable manufacturing processes.
